Position Summary: The Golf Course Superintendent is responsible for the overall management and maintenance of the golf course and grounds. This includes but is not limited to course set-up, agronomy, staff supervision, budgeting, and irrigation. Additionally, there will be long-term goals and projects set by the board of directors that will be expected to be met. The Golf Course Superintendent will collaborate closely with the General Manager to ensure the golf course is maintained at the highest level and is ready for play. Duties & Responsibilities: •Maintain the golf course and all practice facilities in playing conditions to the maintenance standards set by the Greens committee and approved by the board of directors. •Schedules, trains, supervises, and evaluates all personnel assigned to the department. •Prepare the annual operating budget for the golf course and submit it to the Board of Directors for approval. Take corrective action as necessary to help assure that budget goals are met. •Develop long-range plans for the improvement of the golf course and its facilities. •Select and purchase all the chemicals, fertilizers, and other supplies needed to maintain the golf course. •Apply chemicals and fertilizers to the golf course according to established schedules and procedures. •Develops and maintains drainage, irrigation, and watering systems. •Oversees repairs of broken water lines or valves and may perform necessary repairs in an emergency. •Operate and maintain all the equipment used on the golf course. •Inspect the golf course daily and react to any unforeseen issues as they arise. •Supervises operation of the equipment repair shop & maintains all equipment based on their owner’s manual. •Ensure proper landscaping for property outside of the golf course, including the clubhouse and surrounding areas. •Meet with the Greens Committee & general manager on a regular basis to discuss problems and recommend solutions. Miramont is one of the premiere private country clubs in Texas. Miramont is a wonderful Robert Trent Jones Jr. design located in the heart of Bryan-College Station, home of Texas A&M University. Champions Golf Club in Houston, Texas is looking to hire a full-time Equipment Manager to manage and oversee its maintenance facilities and equipment fleet. This individual will play a key role in the overall success and functionality of our Golf Course Maintenance operation.
About Champions Golf Club: Our History - Founded by the late Jack Burke, Jr. and Jimmy Demaret in 1957, Champions Golf Club is one of the most historic, classic golf courses in Texas. By introducing some elevation changes and depth to the property, Fazio and his crew brought more of an Australian Sandbelt style that provides a welcomed contrast to the Cypress Creek course. The bunkers were completely renovated in 2020 and the turfgrass consists of TifSport bermuda rough, tees, and fairways, and TifEagle Ultradwarf greens.
Our Facilities –The maintenance compound consists of 5 separate buildings sitting on just under 2 acres of property. Three of the buildings add up to over 14,000 square feet and are used primarily for equipment storage. The chemical building is 3,200 square feet with three roll-up doors, a recessed fill station, and an independent liquid storage area. The last building is the cart barn which houses our fleet of brand new, lithium-ion battery golf carts which the Equipment Manager helps oversee.

Job Summary Responsible for assisting the Superintendent in the operating functions of the Golf Course Maintenance Department. POSITION OVERVIEW: The Assistant Golf Course Superintendent reports directly to the Director of Golf Course Maintenance (DGC). Chemical and Fertility ● Performs routine safety inspections on all spraying and fertilizer equipment. ● Maintains chemical and fertilizer storage and mixing/filling areas in compliance with county, state, and federal regulations and is responsible for the safety and direction of chemical/fertilizer handlers and/or helpers. ● Responsible for properly mixing and applying herbicides, fungicides, or insecticides to associated turf grasses, trees, and shrubs. ● Manages all spray and fertilizer applications on a daily to weekly basis and reports to the DGC. PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS: ● Requires a minimum of two years of turfgrass experience as an intern or post-graduate. ● Requires working knowledge of the maintenance of golf course tees, fairways, and greens; the seeding and maintenance practices for golf course turf; the planting, cultivation, pruning, and caring for plants, shrubs, and trees; the characteristics and proper use of various fertilizers and soil conditioners; herbicides and pest control methods and materials; drainage control methods; and irrigation system, including wells, pumps, and automatic controls. ● Requires valid driver’s license. ● Requires current state certification or licensing as a pesticide applicator within 90 days of employment.
